One Crust Apple Pie

4 large apples, peeled, sliced thinly, and rinsed
Juice from 1/2 lemon
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 Tablespoons maple syrup
3 Tablespoons butter
2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon corn starch
3 Tablespoons Grand Marnier or other brandy/liqueur
1 Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust
Egg-wash - whisk 1 egg yolk with 1/2 teaspoon water - Set aside

Add to a sauce pan over high heat: apples, lemon juice, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, maple syrup, butter, cinnamon, cloves, corn starch and Grand Marnier. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer. Let cook for 5 minutes. Set aside and let cool for 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Unfold 1 Pillsbury Pie Crust in a 9 inch glass baking dish.  Add the cooked apples, and spread out, but leave about 2 inches around the outside of crust free of apples. Fold the edges over the apples, all the way around (as shown in our photo). Use a pastry brush to add egg-wash to the outer crust. Bake for 25 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

"American Pop" is a film I have never forgotten. It's an animated film for a mature audience about a family and their music jouney from jazz, soul, rock, punk with drugs thrown in the mix. Lots of cool animation for its time. A must see for music lovers

When you hear the saying "as American as apple pie," think of our yummy recipe, One Crust Apple Pie, it's sweet, tangy, and silky smooth in your mouth. The 4th of July anytime you want it. Our featured film "American Pop" was the perfect inspiration of the American spirit and love for all things deliciously apple.
