Chicago Deep Dish Pizza















1 Tbs. olive oil
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
1 package refrigerated pizza crust
1 - 15oz pizza sauce
14 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 - 14.5oz can stewed tomatoes, drained and chopped
Additional parmesan cheese for garnish


Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add onions and peppers and cook until soft. Add sausage to pan, stir until cooked through. Drain and set aside.

Press pizza dough into bottom of a springform pan. Add sausage mixture, pizza sauce, parmesan cheese and mozzarella. Top with chopped tomatoes and additional parmesan cheese.

Bake for 30 - 35 minutes or until cheese is bubbly. Let cool 5 minutes, loosen edges and remove ring from springform pan. Serves 6.
